TREE CONSULTANCY
Health and Safety Assessment
The assessment of the health of a tree and potential associated hazards. Remedial work can be recommended to remove dead, diseased or damaged material and to ensure the safe condition of the tree.
Recommendations for Replacement Planting
Advice can be given on new and replacement tree planting to ensure the right tree is chosen for the right place. Trees must be chosen to suit requirements for size, shade, location, maintenance and amenity. Thought must also be given to exact location of the tree and method of tree planting to ensure successful tree establishment.
Identification of Protected Trees and Associated Issues
Some trees in Christchurch are protected by the Christchurch City Council as a notable or heritage tree or are listed as significant as the result of a condition of subdivision approval or a resource consent.
There is no automatic tree protection or blanket coverage of tree species in Christchurch as there may be in other cities. If a protected tree on private land is in a hazardous state, remedial work may be undertaken to remove immediate danger and the Christchurch City Council must be informed.
Heritage and notable trees may be pruned by a qualified Arborist providing pruning is not carried out any higher than one third of the total height of the tree from ground level and the thickness of the branches to be pruned does not exceed 50mm in diameter. We can advise you on all matters relating to protected and significant trees.
